Kerala State government is planning to set up Corona Care Centers (CCC) across the state in anticipation of community spread (Stage 3) of the novel coronavirus pandemic. LOBA, among others, is tasked with setting up a CCC when such a situation is called upon.
The COVID-19 crisis is almost certain to escalate. The WHO has foreseen that 40-50% of the population will eventually get the infection. Our present medical infrastructure cannot handle a situation when 10% of the populace fall sick - the number of people needing hospital care and the number of deaths is unimaginable. In that event, we need alternative infrastructure that can cater to the mildly ill- who comprise up to 85% of those infected.
The 1969 batch celebrated a memorable Golden Jubilee Reunion this year. The two day event was their first reunion in 50 years.
The batch comprised of only 18 members, out of which only 15 were reachable. But that did not stop them from coming together and reminiscing in memories along with others who studied along with them in the 1962-69 period.
It was indeed a moment of joy blanketed in tender memories from a time that can not be forgotten.
The 45th AGM of LOBA was held on July 28th, 2019 at Hotel Horizon, Trivandrum. The meeting was called to order at 7 pm by the President, Dr. Ram Mohan. After a minute's silence in prayer, the lamp was ceremonially lit by the 1994 batch, celebrating their silver jubilee, the school song was sung.

The fourth edition of the Loyola Global Awards was held at the Sri Mulam club on 15th June 2019. There were over 300 loyolites and their families, along with almost the entire faculty of retired and present staff of the school. The chief guest for the evening was Air Marshal B Suresh PVSM AVSM VM ADC, AOC in C Southern Air Command, himself an alumnus of the school for a two year period.
Sanjay Vijaykumar, our GLA Young Achiever this year was very focussed even when he was in school, be it studies or basketball! That is what his teachers remember about him. He was a backbencher and didn't miss out anything at Loyola! Sanjay worked hard to achieve his goals in academics and co-curricular activities. No wonder he became an entrepreneur while in college.
Dr. Sujith Varghese Thomas completed his MBBS and MS from Christian Medical College, Vellore. After a 2 year rural stint in Orissa, he was back for his MS and then took on the responsibility of Broadwell Christian Hospital, Fatehpur, UP through the organization EHA. Along with his wife Sunitha, an MS from CMC Vellore, he decided to pursue his true calling to serve the unserved. That was 10 years back in 2008.
3rd September 2018 witnessed the launch of ‘Spread A Smile’. An initiative aimed at creating an ecosystem where children from various orphanages and schools in the city, can come together and engage in activities that aid their individual growth and collective development.
LOBA welcomes all members of the Loyola family to the 4th edition of the Global Leadership Awards, to be held on Saturday June 15, 2019 at the Sri Mulam Club hall from 6.30 pm. We will be honouring this year's winners - Sujith Varghese Thomas of 1993 and Sanjay Vijayakumar of 2000. As the first batch of students to pass out from school complete 50 years, we will also be felicitating the golden jubilee batch.
The chief guest for the evening is Air Marshal B Suresh, chief of the Southern Air Command.
