The 45th AGM of LOBA was held on July 28th, 2019 at Hotel Horizon, Trivandrum. The meeting was called to order at 7 pm by the President, Dr. Ram Mohan. After a minute's silence in prayer, the lamp was ceremonially lit by the 1994 batch, celebrating their silver jubilee, the school song was sung.
Secretary, Manu Govind, presented the annual report for the year 2018-2019, detailing the programs that LOBA conducted - the 44th AGM, the back to school event and the 4th GLA. LWI activities received a special mention, in particular, efforts for flood relief and rescue operations during august of last year. The principal Fr. Devassy Paul spoke warmly of the special bond between LOBA and the school, and of the importance to further strengthen ties.
Treasurer, Nikhil Raj, then laid out the audited statement for the year. The net conclusion was that there was an excess of expenditure over income of over 3 lakhs. This was due to the halting of our corpus fund drive in view of the devastation wrought by the floods last year. The president then spoke on the path ahead for LOBA, with special reference to the LWI activities and the need to restart the drive to augment the corpus. The LINK program also received attention.
The floor was then laid for an animated discussion on the need to strengthen our organization financially to sustain the LWI programs.
The election of the new office bearers was then conducted by Jacob Mathen, and overseen by the Principal Fr. Devassy Paul. A proposal to extend the term of the present office-bearers was put forward by Pradeep Suthan and seconded by the majority. Two new executive committee members were then proposed and approved unanimously- Ranjan Kanthy (1969) and Renjith R (1994).
Pradeep Kumar, 1974 batch, then spoke on the structure and activities of JAAI and JAAK, the vote of thanks was proposed by Pradeep Suthan and the meeting was adjourned after the national anthem.
