Sanjay Vijaykumar, our GLA Young Achiever this year was very focussed even when he was in school, be it studies or basketball! That is what his teachers remember about him. He was a backbencher and didn't miss out anything at Loyola! Sanjay worked hard to achieve his goals in academics and co-curricular activities. No wonder he became an entrepreneur while in college.
Starting an entrepreneurial journey at the age of 22 while in 3rd year of engineering, Sanjay lead and created a team of engineering graduates who were passionate about technology to build up MobME Wireless, one of India’s most exciting and innovative mobile internet companies. MobME quickly raised angel funding from investors based out of India, Middle East and Silicon Valley.
He is also Chairman of the Board for Startup Village, India’s first Technology Incubator in PPP mode promoted jointly by MobME along with Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Government of India nominated Sanjay to the board of Indo-US Science and Technology Forum established by Govt. of India and United states to strengthen bilateral relationships in technology.
Sanjay is also a Rajeev Motwani Fellow instituted in the memory of late Stanford Professor Rajeev Motwani, mentor to Google Founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, A Scholar of Aspen Institute, Colorado, he was selected by World Economic Forum as a Global Shaper for making significant contribution to the community. Asia Society also selected Sanjay amongst the Asia’s 21 young leaders under 40.
A graduate of Industrial Engineering from College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Sanjay is a passionate basketball player, Sanjay has lead the college team to various tournaments and played state level Basketball in Kerala before being bit by the entrepreneur bug.
